Breed Description

Appearance

The American Keuda cat is generally muscular and comes in varying colors including black, white, blue, smoke, brown tabby, silver tabby, color point, and red. The best way to describe an American Keuda is to compare the similarities with the Egyptian Mau breed, including body type, and a belly flap, not seen in other breeds. It is important to note that the American Keuda comes in a large variety of colors and markings.

Personality

Active, outgoing and intelligent are words used to describe the breed. American Keudas enjoy playing in water and as a pet they are smart, adaptable and quiet in nature. They tend to get along well with other animals and children.

Origin

The America Keuda is a new breed of cat that has roots from a study done in the 1980's. The American Keuda is basically a re-domestication of selected strains from the introduced cat population of SW North America. In 2002 the breed was standardized and the breed was defined. The breed is intended to focus on behavioral traits rather than physical characteristics.
