Breed Description
Appearance
Australian Mist cats are short haired and medium in size with a round head and very large circular eyes. There are three spotted color coat patterns defined and their coats come in seven different colors including blue, caramel, chocolate, brown, lilac, peach, and gold with a ringed tail. Their eyes can range from yellowish to green.
Personality
The Australian Mist is an affectionate cat with a gently personality. They make excellent pets for households with children.
Origin
The Australian Mist breed was developed in Australia by Dr Truda Straede in the 1970's, which is where its name comes from. The Australian Mist was developed by crossing Burmese, Abyssinian, and Domestic shorthair cats to create a cat with a spotted coat and short hair length. It is still a new cat breed but has been gaining popularity and catteries in the United States and other countries have started away from its Australian roots.
