Appearance
The California Spangled cat resembles a miniature leopard and shares some of physical cues as the Bengal. The California Spangle coat comes in bronze, gold, blue, brown, charcoal, red, black, silver, and white. The spots are well-defined, and contrast darkly to the coat color.

The California Spangled is described as being very social with a large amount of loyalty to their owners. They are very playful and love human interaction.
Origin
The breed originated after Hollywood script writer was convinced by a friend to breed a domestic cat resembling a small leapoard. The breed was originally intended to raise awareness for the poaching deaths of leapoards. By crossbreeding several breeds of cats including the Abyssinian, American Shorthair, and British Shorthair the California Spangled was born.
